Figured its time

Keep searching google for help on my truck and this site pops up most often and its quite helpful. Figured it time to join in.

Truck is a 2001 XLT supercab. dam near paid off so I've started putting money into upgrades, as well as plenty money into repairs since I've bought her. At this point ill never make my money back to I'm gonna build and keep her. So far mods are Flowmaster 40 series with a 3" tailpipe, Edge cs programmer, K&N cold air intake, and a 20" light bar up front. In process this weekend of full interior led lighting.

Near future mods are 4" lift with 315-75-16s and ion alloy wheels. Westin side steps, installing tow package and repainting it as the paint is peeling bad in the past year. Full rebuild on front end as well when I install the lift.

Im not 100% sold on the 4" lift and 315s yet. Anybody have any pictures of the setup? May just go with a 2" and 33s.

- The CS, while nice, cannot accept true custom calibrations from PHP (blame Edge). So - a dead-end device, and a significant missed opportunity. An SCT X4 would have been a better choice for the same (or less) cost, including 3 fully custom calibrations of yer choice.

- The K&N - no perf gains whatsoever, and a dirtier MAF in the bargain. Gotts Mod and an OEM or Purolator paper filter would have been as good, and you could have directed that wasted money to something useful. Like a gearing change, upgrading yer brakes, etc.

Stay 2" or less and 33's - otherwise you will be firmly into dawg territory.

Add re-gearing to yer bucket list - a distinct priority over the other mods you propose, if you go larger than 33's with a 5.4, or regardless of size, with a 4.6.

BTW - when you state "installing tow package" just what do you intend to include? Is an external trans cooler on that list? Better brakes? Revised spring rates? Gearing changes? Engine cooling upgrades? More involved than just throwing a hitch and a wiring harness on the truck.

good luck
I was looking into a custom tune but the edge kinda fell into my lap at a good price. Will upgrade later on to custom tunes but figured I'd run it like it is until I finish my building.

I liked the sound of the Flowmaster but I definately noticed the loss of torque. What is a better setup to gain that torque back?

Also I should have said a tow reciever not package. Wiring harness is already there as I've towed off the bumper since I've had it. But if anyone has any brake upgrade ideas I'm all ears. If I tow anything its a 16' boat so I don't need massive towing capabilities

After researching a lot today I am thinking more of a torsion bar setup and 33s until I wanna put more money up for a lift gears and 35s.

And it is a 5.4 in my truck.

My red 2003 (now sold) I upgraded to Lightning spec rotors, calipers, pads.

Lightning spec is essentially superduty but 5 lug
