Looking at either a Fabtech or RCD lift for my '99 scab 4x4. The hardest part is finding wheels I like that fit. Looking at a set of 18x9, 2mm offset, 5" backspace eagle 186s. Both manufacturers call for 4 5/8" backspace. Is anyone running anything more than that? I don't want to spend the money and have the wheels or tires rubbing the spindle or control arms.
I would pass on fab tech in the prerunner world the young guys called them *** tech. You will have alignment issues ball joint issue. Maybe this instead they even sell a milder bolt on kit not as extremeas mine. Look up HnM Motorsports .
Thanks man, but im not interested in the prerunner/trophy truck thing. For the price of the HM kits I could SAS my truck. Looks like some quality work though
unfortunately finding wheels I like make it difficult since the aftermarket on these trucks is slimming. Not to mention every source I have tried has given me a different answer. Fabtech even gave me a maybe. Thanks for the help though.
I think it's possible if you go with a wheel large enough like a 20" wheel, but even then it's still a risk. As far as finding wheels I think ebay has about the biggest selection still out there.
I just did a quick search and the Eagle 186's come in a 17x9 with the right backspacing as well as the Ion Alloy 171's which look about the same. But if your set on a 18" wheel the choices get a lot more slim.
If I get eagles I would prefer 18's. If I got 17s its gonna be DC2s. Would prefer the eagles over the DC2s but not if they are going to cause clearance problems. Too much money on too old of a truck to risk. Especially with it being my DD

Why waste money on one of those kits then. Just put a body lift on it if your looking for a lifted look and bigger tires. You get what you pay for. Your daily driver and you want to lift it and put bigger tires= more maintenance and headache. At least a body lift you won't be changing any geometry of your suspension. Been there done that with lift kits ranging from 6" to 12" probably will never do that again. I'll never look at a lifted truck like I did when I was young and nieve. But best of luck to your adventures in hookin up your truck
