I'd still recommend you get a muffler shop to test for excessive backpressure.

You said on 12/30 that the problem was gone.... and came back yesterday with cat efficiency codes and nothing else reported.

It helps if you actually tell us what's going on.

I called two shops, I have the new fuel filter and both said tomorrow and onw wants 68 and the other quoted 35 for labor only. Isn't this extremely high? One said it would take an hour.

It takes about 5 minutes to change the fuel filter unless the clips are stuck. Some shops charge a minimum 1 hour, others go by book time, others wing it. 35 bucks is fair.

Replaced fuel filter still bucking n jerking.
The other day it was really bad and po301 cylinder one misfire code popped up...check engine light would flash. That night I went to a friend's house and it wouldn't do it. AutoZone said I need a egr valve, then said I needed 8 coil packs at 70-80 dollars a piece. Then they said it could be fuel injector. Another AutoZone said I only have two coil packs on my 4.6L. That night it wouldn't do it and friend put a spark tester on cylinder one (passenger side first sparkplug ) He said it looks good based on spark tester attached with running engine. The next day it was bucking n jerking not sure what to replace.

I thought when I accelerate quickly that the rattle was the "bottom end" He said run 93 gas and he was right the rattle went away when I gun it with 93 gas.

There is a very good reason that the parts monkeys at AutoZone are there behind a counter and are not working somewhere doing actual diagnostics and repairs.

420 and 430 are cat efficiency codes - what are the other codes, exactly? I assume P0301 - that's misfire cylinder 1 - what's the exact egr code?
