2000 F150 Radio & Wipers troubles
2000 F150 Radio & Wipers troubles
I have owned this beauty now all of ten days. I know very little of it's history. It's has a little over 200k on it. I got it from a local used car dealer, and he got it from an auction.
For the first 6 or so days the wipers and the radio worked fine. I had the key turned to the acc. position one afternoon listening to the radio, when I was done, turned the truck off and noticed the headlights and interior lights stayed on. Came back an hour later and they were still on so I disconnected the battery an waited for the night.
That's when this issue first began, If I have the truck started and in Park or Neutral the radio and the wipers work. When I shift to Reverse or Drive, the wipers and the radio short out, no power, no nothing. If the truck is in the acc. position only half the time does anything work.
So I can say since this issue first began, I have replaced fuses,
(Not only were they NOT blown, but I put new ones in to be certain,
(slot #1, 8, 11, 30 I think).
I then moved on and installed a new ignition switch, and that is were it stands, The truck still drives and runs fine, but the problem with the radio and wipers still persists. And after driving it I turn off the truck and open the door, there is a dinging alarm like it thinks the lights are still on or the key is still in the ignition, when they are not. I have to disconnect the battery every time to make sure it does not get drained.
That is really the best I can tell you.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks

I am leaning more towards the GEM also,
just not sure if I can do that one myself,
so I plan to keep investigating further, until I can be certain.
And It was not chafed wires in the column, I did look,
but that would have been to easy on me.
