What is my Truck Worth - Need an Honest Valuation

Going to sell my truck as it mainly sits and I don't drive it except once a week to get water from SamsClub. The wife bitches because its so high off the ground (standard off road suspension) when she climb in and out. And to tell you the truth, I'm getting a little tired of the bed height being so high off the ground when loading and unloading it.

I am not using this thread as a for sale of my truck. I am mainly looking for what you think my truck is worth, so I can price it accordingly. I have a value in mind - but I want to know your opinions..

This is a 2000 F150 XLT, Regular cab, 4x4 (shift on the fly) automatic transmission, with a 5.4L engine and a 355 limited slip differential. Factory bedliner and sliding rear window, Dark graphite interior. I have changed the wheels out for the better looking stock 2001-1003 off road wheels.

I am the 2nd owner and bought it from the original owner 3 years ago. I bought it with 170K miles and I put 10K on it in the last 3 years. I have replaced the front suspension due to wear (upper ball joints/control arms, lower ball joints, and a camber kit) and put new shocks on all 4 corners.

Interior is perfect. Non smoking vehicle. Has overhead console. Tilt steering, power windows/door locks, cruise, CD/radio, dark graphite cloth interior. Body is excellent. No dings or dents. Tires are very good. The only problem I had with it was a bad COPS that I replaced and I put in a set of plugs at that time. I also had to reseal the rear window as it started leaking when it rained.

The odometer goes out occasionally, but I understand this can be easily fixed with a soldering iron and the cupholder spring fell out. Other than these things, it is a perfect truck.

I am going to list it on Craigslist in my area. Since people seem to feel they need to negotiate the price, I'm thinking of listing it for $6500 and will probably take $6K. (North Alabama). I can't get a value from NADA as it doesn't list anything for my year truck other than for a Lightning, which this is not. KBB list the truck at $5K, which I think is too low.

So, for all you informed people, what do you think my truck is really worth? Am I too high on my valuation? If I am, then tell me why - or do you think I'm spot on with the price? Again, not trying to use this thread to sell my truck as I'm sure most of you are in a region of the US where it would be too far for you to even consider looking at my truck. I will probably post it in the for sale section, but I've done that in the past and had little reaction from my earlier F150s and I'm sure this is due to geography. Craigslist in my area seems to work well for me if you can get past the people that just generally want to buy something, but clearly cannot afford anything..

At best, it's worth KBB private party in "good" condition.

If kbb is $5k, Id list it for $5k and take as low as $4500. Unfortunately, even though it's in good condition, it's still a 14 year old truck with 180k on it. If you list it too high, it just won't sell.

$6500 might be what it's worth to you, but it'll only be worth blue book to a buyer, and they will definitely try to get it for under book value.

Well here's food for thought. You could lower and level it a couple of inches to alleviate the height issues and keep on trucking. It wouldn't cost much and you still have your truck adjusted for you and your wife. The spring for the cup holder can be fixed with 2 tech screws. Just an idea. I'm with jethat, I will never sell my truck, and big truck payments don't appeal to me....lol

I talked to me wife over lunch today and she feels it would be best to NOT sell it and just hold on to it. So, that is what we will do. Besides, if I sold it I would have to find another truck and I would be hard pressed to find one in the shape mine is in for the price.

Thanks for all your input and yes, I may look at lowering it somewhat, although I don't have a clue how to accomplish that. Guess I need to start investigating….

Patman or azmidget are the go to guys around here for that.. Mine is 2wd and lowered 4.5/6.5. If I remember right the 4x4 have 2 inch blocks in the rear. The front is probably torsion bars. I don't think it would be all that hard to lower it 2 inches. Good luck!
