Engine swap info needed!

Hey, I'm new to the forum. I have been searching online for some help with a motor swap I am performing. This thread is full on great info and I hope you guys can help me out with a few questions.

I recently took on a project for a friend. He brought me his 98' f150 extended cab truck that originally had a 4.6L with the coil pack type ignition. The truck had another shop install a 99+ 5.4 lightning motor and 4r100 transmission but was not finished or wired up.

Here are a few facts and questions i have:

The truck has the original pcm & fuse box harness

They used the factory Lightning engine harness and it appears to have the factory lightning transmission harness also.

I have a factory lightning under hood fuse box and harness.

What i ran into is the ford lightning engine harness has two plugs that go into the pcm harness. The original 4.6 only allows the one 42 pin plug and not the 16 pin.

The ford lightning fuse box and pcm harness doesn't plug into the fuel pump harness beneath the cruise control module and i do not have the lightning fuel pump harness or ABS system

I have never had a 4.6 truck, so I can't help you with wiring, but I can tell you the truck won't run because of PATS. You'll need to have the PCM custom flashed to remove PATS.

I know the 5.4 and the 6.8 both have two large plugs like you have your finger over in the first pic.

From what I've read the 98s don't have PATS.

Correct, when I first read your post I thought you had the Lightning PCM also which does have PATS. I just reread the post and I guess you plan to use the 4.6 PCM. Again, I have never done a 4.6 anything, but you'll need to have the PCM flashed or replaced for the 5.4.

From what Im being told, all i need now is just a Lightning specific ecu with PATS disabled to get this thing going. Can anyone confirm this?

that is not what you were told, what you were told is you need a 4r100 compatible ECM with a tune in it for the motor with the PATS disabeled...

now if you wanna keep running in circles chasing answers you wish to hear, good luck on your quest because I'm done with ya
