99 F150 4.2 top dead center
Hey men I apologize in advance if this has been answered. I searched but didn't find the answer, or if I did find the answer I didn't realize it.
1999 F150 4x2 4.2l 5 speed manual.
Trying to find top dead center via marking on the harmonic balancer / pulley. I had the wife noting the wood dowel I was using on cyl #1 rise and fall. I think I'm real close to TDC.
When I went to the "bottom" to look around, I can't find anything to let me know if exactly at TDC. There are 3 holes on the parallel-to-ground-face of the harmonic balancer that appear to be approximately 5 degrees between two and 15 degrees between the middle and the third. I can see those at the bottom, but they don't align with any markings on the oil pan, or timing cover that I can see.
Is there a way to tell via lines/holes/markings where TDC is precisely?

The last pic in post 3 shows me getting TDC ...
I didn't need a precise TDC, just close so this may not help you a lot. I do remember there was a timing pointer and marks engraved on the balancer, although the engraved marks were hard to see.
Good Luck!
