New exhaust

Ok so tires, and level kit have been added so I'm on to exhaust and was wondering if for me to get that deep throaty truck sound if I could change my muffler or of I would have to change my whole exhaust system... And if I could just change my muffler which would be best? I've been looking at the flowmaster 40 series and liked the sound. I don't want it obnoxious and crazy loud when I drive just alittle rumble to it. Thanks guys

a search on YouTube might give kind of a clue or an idea what it might sound like....then search out other muffler makes

a good muffler would be borla or a magnapak....imo

a muffler swap with an intermediate filler piece is the most economical upgrade to better sound and don't forget about a new tip either...its a like a megaphone for the sound....

I put the magnaflow on my truck with all new pipes. I started at the point where they come together and used a larger diameter pipe to the muffler and duel pipes out the back. I love the new sound and noticed a little more get up and go.

A all new exhaust system from the block back to the tailpipe would give you more power and maybe a little better mpg. If all you are after is the sound a new muffler is all you need. My truck sounds great with a new magnaflow muffler, but on my car I did a complete new exhaust system and got more power and better mpg. I put long tube headers on my 4.6L Mustang with new cats and new mufflers and I could feel it had more power. It also went from 18/24 mpg to 24/30 mpg. I assume you would get a similar result on the 5.4 in a truck.
