Travel Note

I have a device built in to my sun visor called a Travel Note.

You can record messages on it.

It is built into the visor along with remote buttons to open gates and garage doors.

Does anyone know how to service or repair this feature?

It is trade marked but I cant find a manufacturer source
for it.

All other buttons on this pad work except for the travel note.

thanks

travel Note

this is what it is called in the manual. It also was put on the King Ranch or Harley edition.

My truck is a 2002 super crew off road lariat. leather 4x4 the works.

I searched google before coming here. Also the garage door opening system has a trade marked name. Have to look it up if you are interested.

Gentex makes the homelink component. I did a quick googling gentex travel note and got some hits. I'd guess you have to replace the goodie in the visor. I'm on my phone and dont feel like researching on this little screen, so hopefully this helps.

It's funny, I only knew about gentex because I'm installing a home link mirror in my old Lexus and wanted a plug n play harness.

thanks ishootstuff, you are correct.

after researching your info i found the Homelink [garage/gate opener] is made by Gentex.

They probably made the auto dimming mirror that is in the truck.

I will attempt to contact them to see what there knowledge is with the TravelNote recorder.

It appears it was put in the ford trucks for a short time. My local Ford dealer didnt couldnt find any thing on it.

I was fortunate enough to speak with a Tech with Gentex who has been around long enough to know what the Travel Note was. They have not corroborated with that devise since 2002 . I am waiting get back with me to see if replacing the device is doable with out destroying the visor. Normally if they get a visor in with a faulty Homelink they replace the visor.

The little plastic bezel just pops off. No screws, no cutting. Should be pretty simple. Search youtube - there are videos of people installing new modules, so the replacement where a hole is already cut should be really easy.

wish it were that easy. the visor cloth is placed on the visor after device is installed. also look at previous pics of ebay items and you'll see there is more to the devise than just the faceplate size.

Gotcha. Well, there is a very nice imprint on the visor for a template to cut out. I would try to razor it and see if I could stretch the cardboard and cloth enough to remove the old device - if not, a few posts up there is a visor with the device for $75 or so.
