Gear shift issue - need help!

I had a small pin (pictured below) fall onto my driver's floormat from somewhere behind the IP a couple of weeks ago and since then I have been able to shift the truck without my foot on the brake.

I went looking for where it came from today and found where it belongs on the gear shift assembly. Problem is I can't quite figure out how everything is supposed to go back together. Pictures are below so you guys can see what I'm talking about.

Clearly, the pin is supposed to slide back in to the bottom piece and I think the top piece as well, judging by the hole, but I can't seem to slide the top one back into a place where I can get the pin through both.

I wanted to see if any of you have experienced this issue before or if someone would be willing to take a picture of how their truck is set up currently so I can get mine back together. Thanks!

Solved!

I was able to run the shifter through the gears (wheels blocked of course) and get the piece to slide back into the assembly. After fighting to get the holes aligned I was able to get the pin back in. Took some effort and flexibility to pound it back into place but it is where it needs to be and the truck is back to shifting as it should!

That was different. Glad you got it fixed.
