While driving - the sound is exactly as you'd imagine you'd hear from people humping on an old mattress. First thought was the leaf springs squeaking because maybe the shocks were bad - allowing the axle to sort of hop as the truck drives. Could be, perhaps, the bushings where the leaf springs mate to the frame? Could it be other problems? Hard to pinpoint the sound - doesn't do it with the wheels off the ground.

Thoughts?

If it is the leafsprings you can just spray some silicone lubricant on the spacers in between them and that should take care of the noise but if your rear shocks are that worn out you might want to replace. Monroe shocks only run like $30 apiece for the rears.

Front end noise is probably past due for all 4 ball joints. The lowers are what cause the noise. They get dried out and go metal on metal internally

Thanks! This is rear-end noise. Rear or central. I hit the leaf spring bushing with wd40 and cleared up about half the noise. Will look at replacing the leaf spring bushings soon.

Try using some white lithium grease instead of just WD-40. Usually works a lot better in situations like this.
