Replacement Ignition key

I have a 1999 F150 that my brother lost the spare key to. I still have the spare Fob and a blank key that I bought to replace it with. I need to have the key cut to match the original key that I have. Also, it does need to be linked to the truck, correct? Who does this other than the dealer?

Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you,
David

A good locksmith can also do it.

Near me, an Ace Hardware does them both- key and fob.

ETA: the key is about $90 programmed, not sure about fob...

Lowes and Home Depot can do it, but you buy their keys.

The hardware stores and home centers can clone an existing that key will work for normal vehicle operation, but they cannot program it into the vehicle as a uniquely identified key.

Yup. This will work fine for most people, but if you plan on making more copies with these keys, you can't. A cloned key (which is one that is made with everything done inside the store) can not be used to do the self program for new keys.
Only keys made from using a scan tool that hooks up to the truck (and clears all keys in the system) can be used to make your own copies.

Fobs can be programed at anytime by doing the key dance:

Unlock the doors (Switch on door or a working transmitter).

Turn the ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the eighth turn ending in RUN. If the module has successfully entered program mode, it will lock and then unlock all doors.

Within 20 seconds, press any button on an transmitter, and the doors will lock and then unlock to confirm that each transmitter has been programmed. Repeat this step for each transmitter (all fobs have to be programed at the same time).
