250K boom - what should I replace, flush, change, check, ect?

I have a 2003 F150 7700 series 5.4L 4X4 and I'm curious now hitting 265K what I should replace, flush, check, ect?

I know I have to replace the IWE Solenoid because the ice crusher noise has been happening.

AC Compressor seems to be running rough.

Slight ticking, but some say it's just what it sounds like.

Body is 98% clean and chassis looks great. Front end looks good too and doesn't make any noise when turning.

This does have a plow set-up and I do plan on running a plow this winter.

My hope is to keep this until it hits 300K and then look to trade up. Get me there people get me there. I predict (from past years with other cars/trucks) I will only be putting no more than 12K per year on the truck.

~Brent

PS - This was my first post here. I'm excited that I found a place to help me with my truck.

The 2003 doesn't have the IWE system, it has solid hubs and an internal differential lock.

Unplug the compressor if it only makes noise when engaged, or replace the compressor.

Retorque the spark plugs to 28 ft/lb if it's ticking.

If it doesn't have a bad IWE than any ideas what the intermitant ice gringer noise is? Comes from center under after pulling in driveway.

Any suggestions on preventative maintenance I should do with this # of miles?

It was the compressor and it's barring so I just bypassed the a/c spindle with other belt and smaller pulley. Runs very good.

Trying to solve ticking. Planning on switching to 15W30.

Any other suggestions?

I wouldn't switch weight oil at this point in time.. Welll, you could run some 5w30 if you wanted to...

The "Ticking" could/probably is broken exhaust manifold studs.. Take a peak from below and see if you have any broken ones.. They'll be on the back cylinders more than likely.

At this mileage, all you can do is keep the fluids fresh and replace stuff as it fails or wears out..

Any preventative maintenance at this point is just replacing parts that can/will fail and what you feel like changing.

Have you changed the power steering fluid or the brake fluid yet? Those seem to get neglected the most.

I had a 97 F150 that I traded in with 255,000 miles on it and it was running like a 'top' at that time.. Whoever got that truck still has a lot of miles left in it! (if they take care of it like I did that is.. )

Good luck!

Mitch
