Seats

I just picked up some seats from a 98 expy to put in my 99 xl super cab with a solid bench seat.. The drivers side is electric. all I have is the wires for the seat belts What do I need for the seat motor. Just a 12v fused wire and a ground. there is a 4 wire plug on the seat. I did get the plug for it.

Ok the seat belt pluged right in. Now I have a black wire and a green wire. I asume green hot black ground?

yup just a 12v and a ground for the seats.

Assuming you have the "spider" harness that goes to the motors and switch pack

Ok thanks. I put some power to it and It won't go B & F every thing else works It just makes a clicking sound but don't move. I will take aa look at it in the moening. Got them at LKQ half off today. $12 for track and motor and $14 for the seats. Thay need cleand but are in pretty good shape outher wise. If I can't fix it I will take it back and get anouther motor. I no how thay work now. I can use my drill battery to test it out at the junkeys. Thanks for the help.

Check to see if power is getting to the motor before replacing it. The track may be stuck.

I have power the motor runs but it just makes a clicking nois. I can turn thr rod with the gears on it and the seat moves. Thay came out of a wrecked expy. Is there an adjustment on the motor? It does go up and down and recline.

OK, yeah, that motor gear is trashed. No adjustment. When I had my Expy and the same thing happened, I was unable to change the motor alone and had to get a new track. I'm not 100% sure though. I'm thinking there were some parts of the track that were not designed to be disassembled. Usually, that doesn't slow me down, but I decided it was easier and safer to just get a different track.

With the seat bolted in the car, I was able to hit the switch and then start the seat moving while pushing hard with my legs, and left it in that position. If you don't need that adjustment, you may want to try that out. We had two drivers, so I needed to fix it.

Yes, It will & the mounting holes should already be present under the carpet. So if you pull the console remember to save the bolts. If you have an inpact gun, you can shoot the bolts into place, But if you only have hand tools, then you will have to use a Tap & Die to thread the mounting holes.
