Little ways to customize my F-150?
Little ways to customize my F-150?
Hey all, I recently received a 97 F-150 and I was wondering if there were any small ways to customize it? like custom trim or just somethings you can buy that make it stand out a bit more? Thanks in advance for any ideas
I agree, put a pic on here.
Anyway, when I bought my truck I was going to keep it stock, then I decided to look at craigslist. Take a look at my truck, I'll list the prices I payed for the items.

1. Toolbox - 100
2. Canopy - 300 (need to paint it, so another 300)
3. Nerf bars - 100
4. Halo headlights with smoked out tail lights - 150
5. 2 6" 165 watt KC lights with 5" tractor lights - 80
6. Grill guard - 50
7. 35X12.5X17 good year fierce attitude tires - 400 (for a set of 4)
8. 17" wheels - 400 (for a set of 4)
9. 5" lift kit (haven't put it on yet) - 1000
10. Bed liner (damn nice to have) - 20
11. Step that goes into the hitch receiver - 5 (yes 5 dollars, got from a garage sale)
12. Floor mats - 50
This is all stuff I get from garage sales, scrap yards or craigslist, except the leveling kit, I bought that new from rough country. Also, one thing I found is that working on the interior is just as important as the exterior, as it is weird when you have a really nice exterior and a horrible interior, even rubber floor mats make it look better.

Bedliner is definitely the first thing I'd recommend just because it makes the truck look a lot nicer and makes a huge difference in keeping the truck nice. Look into a drop in liner like a Dualiner, or maybe Line-X if you really want to do a spray in liner, which I've never really been a fan of.

Upgrades
I can think of a few things:
1. Change out your front bumper+grille to the 99-up style.
2. Remove the body side moulding trim pieces. This removes some parking lot protection, but in my opinion adds wonders to the looks.
3. A good wash, followed by a very good cleaning and polishing of your paint.
4. Look at some of the different factory original rims that came with our trucks. My favorite upgrade to my truck was to get a set of 02-03 FX4 rims. That may be an option, check craigslist.
5. Paint some of your trim pieces to match the body color. I painted my lower valance to match.
6. Upgrade your headlights/turn signals/fog lights. This sets of the appearance a bit more.
7. With those upgraded lights, upgrade the light bulbs. Phillips extreme power 9007 bulbs work pretty good for me.
Here are some pics of mine then:

I hope this helps
