Thumbs down '97 Ford f-150 4.6 rough idle and check engine

Hey y'all, I have a 1997 ford f-150 4.6 4x4 reg cab truck and when I am in park, my truck does not idle smooth and every 30 seconds it revs up to 1000 rpms And drops down again and the check engine light stays on. Was wondering what it could be? It has 145,450 miles. Thanks!

You need to read out the OBD2 codes if the CEL is on.

Using my remote CEL reading super powers... oh wait

READ THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODE

Most auto parts stores will read it for free

I had the same problem awhile back. Does your ac blow hot? If it does it could be spark or plugs or a coil. The guy that worked on my truck said that ford rigged it to where a spark plug could cause your ac to blow hot (weird I know). I ended up replacing my coil and plugs and ran perfectly
