A "lazy" startup?

Just this past week, noticed that that normal 'roar to life' is gone when I start the motor. It sorta eases in, lazily but with a very slight "stumble". No extra cranks, just...lazy. That's the only way I can think to describe it.

No codes...wondered about maybe a weak battery....bad cop....fuel delivery....

Fishing for ideas. Thanks. Truck deets below.

There is a battery, a start relay, starter and cables.
Take your pick.
Could be one, two or all.
Good luck.

You know...I just remembered about 3 months ago, my battery tested at 65%. It is getting hot in Phoenix, I'll replace that anyway as you know it will fail at the worst possible moment....

Yeah, and when batteries fail, they go out with very little warning. That's been my experience over the last 10 years, anyways.

Back in the day, the battery would gradually lose ability to keep a charge, and as long as you could get a jump, you could drive to the parts store. Now when they fail, they will frequently die so completely you can't even run the car any distance after a jump start. That's dangerous.

Solved my own problem again finally...removed the permanent oiled air filter in favor of OEM paper, cleaned MAF and intake.

The battery was previously replaced, but though the cranking power was better, that sluggish fire up was still prevalent. there also developed a very minor hesitation on take off.

For posterity...
