Brake fluid

We put dot five in my 2001 F150, one bottle. So it is mixed with Dot 3.

How bad is this, or is it ok?

Thanks, I will plan to purge the entire system tomorrow.

I assume I want to refill with dot three?

I bleed the system when I got home from work Thursday. I opted to purge the system using Dot 3. I used my vacuum bleeder till I had good stuff coming out and then some.

The rear brakes didn't have any dot 5 in the lines, only the front two. I had only bleed the front brakes when I added the dot 5.

I have some in a qt jar in the garage, you can see it separate out!

I kind of got worried about my HD Sporster, that is what uses the Dot 5. I was afraid that I might have mixed it with dot 3 at some time. So I also flushed both brakes on it. My new dot 5 was purple, that made it easy to tell when I had the old stuff out.
But I saw nothing out of the way on the bike, so I think I was ok to start with. But I do feel better now.

Thanks for the heads up guys, this sure seemed like something I should have known.
