high idle at start up? help

high idle at start up? help

when I start my 2000 f150 it idles at about 1000 then when I put it in gear it drops to 800 then eventually back to 600. when you put it in gear its like it trys to jump forward while your holding the brake. I just noticed this today is this normal? or is it just me

If your talking from a cold start, it's normal... has to work that way for a number of reasons otherwise you could not cold start and drive off without stalling.
If this happens on a hot restart start, there is likely an issue with the intake air controller stuck open from the last hot use of the truck.

its on cold start. and good that its normal. I just happened to notice it today normally I start it up and sit there for a minute or so and play with the radio or what not but today I started it and drove away and that's when I noticed
