1997 f150 2 wheel drive shifting problems

When I push on the gas the truck will down shift let off it will up shift. Any help is welcome. People have told me vacuum actuator. What does it look and we're on the trans mission is it.

Surprise, there is no vacuum modulator on an electric shift transmission.
Have you checked for any code?
Without any info, it's just a guess.
The guess is the TPS sensor on the throttle body has an issue with a rough or open spot in it's rotation..
Good luck.

Well, there is very seldom any cheap ways.
You have to address the issues as they come, and do what has to be done.
Throttle position sensor is mounted to the side of the throttle body and turns with the application of foot throttle position.
It signals the computer for a number of functions including transmission shifting.
It has an electrical plug located on the top of the motor. The top plastic cover has to be removed to get at the area.
The sensor can be tested with an Ohm meter for smoothness of operation.
Some one has to get in there and do the testing.
Have a check for codes to see if there is any other information to run with.
Good luck.

mine would often have trouble around 40-45 mph. had a couple of things needing to be changed that were cheap just because my school will work on cars without charging labor. my problems were o2 sensors, spark plugs, and a new coil with the connector. the most expensive part was the coil and connector but we got that done at a shop. this may not be your problem but worth a shot

Did the computer give you a "P" code? If so, please post it.

If your sure the code is for the throttle sensor then change it.
I already involved the TPS ahead of this point in the thread because it affects shifting and a lot of other functions..
Good luck.
