F150 Rear End

can somebody decode this tag for me? it was broke off to what looks like a "L" so im thinking it was a "3L" it came out of a 2001 ford f150 4x4 4.6 L.

9.75" 3.55 limited slip. It would have to be out of a 5.4.

No,Actually it was a 4.6..But thank you for the reply.I had a local mechanic install it due to I work alot. So I was doing some research on it because it has alot of surface rust on it and im going to replace the rear diff cover.

Did they have this rear end in F150's with 4.6's stock?

I've got the same rear end in my 03. But it has a 4.2 in it... H9 Axle code on the door sticker.

H9 is only the ratio. The 9 75 indicates 9.75". I have never seen a 4.6 or 4.2 with a 9.75" axle from the factory, they all came with a 8.8".

Note the completely different shapes.

You had a mechanic swap it out...

So it is likely not original to a 4.6.
9.75" were for the 5.4L

They are swappable

consider it an upgrade

if your are 4x4 hopefully the gearing matches in the front.

I mostly done the swap for the rear disk but its a heavier duty rear than what i had.
