Need help ASAP

Ok, I am getting together everything I need to lift my '02 SCrew 2WD. I picked up a Fabtech 6" lift off craigslist and I need to replace the shocks. Fabtech part #'s on them read FTS7331 and FTS7238. I have a couple questions as I am fairly new to working with lift kits. First off, Fabtech's website only shows a 7.5" kit, but I was told he thought this was a 6" kit. Did they used to make a 6" kit? Second, the shocks need replacing (or rebuilt?). Looks like they each run about $50 a piece. Would I be better off going with a different brand? I know Bypass Shocks are the way to go, but I'm not looking to spend that much on shocks right now as I havea a lot of other things to get too. I'm planning on doing the lift in a week or two and need to order new shocks ASAP. Thanks for the help!

I posted this in "Suspension" also, but thought I might get a better response here.

I know procomp made a 6" and I think fabtech did too. If they did, the parts you have would look different than the ones shown for the 7.5, so you could just compare. As for shocks the fabtech ones are decent but not great. The rancho 9000's or bilstein 5100's would be better options but a bit more pricey. As for bypasses, unless it's internal bypasses you aren't gonna be able to fit them, all the exterior tubes would get busted up on the coil spring since the shock sits inside of it.

If I remember correctly, Fabtech used to make two lifts for the 97-03 4x2's. There was a standard 6 inch lift and a 7.5 inch long travel kit. As for shocks, the standard Fabtech shocks were not much better than the OEM shocks. I'd recommend a set of Bilstiens.

So what shocks are most people with lifts running? Bilsteins? Rancho? Fox?

Two threads were merged as only one per subject allowed. Just causes too much confusion for members trying to help.

That helps, I wasn't getting much response in the Suspension forum. More traffic here's I guess. So Bilstein 5100's seem to be a pretty popular option, good bang for your buck. I think I might try those. Thank you everyone for all your help.
