Ok time to do a do a tuneup on my 2001 5.4l plug thrower and have been doing plenty of research on the subject via forum and video. Here's what everybody seems to agree on...... do it on a stone cold engine, and don't use antisieze. the one thing i've seen all over the road is the torque spec required. what is the current Ford spec that's supposed to at least help prevent the plug throwing. I know this job is gonna be a pain plus the fact the truck is 13 years old and has never had it's plugs out
Use Motorcraft plugs and torque them to 28 with no anti-sieze on the threads. Use dielectric grease on inside of boots. I would also replace the boots at the same time.
