need your opinion on lift style

So I'm looking at giving my truck an "attitude change" by lifting it 2" - 3", looking at the lift kits, they are around $200 - $300 for my truck. I was looking on youtube, and there are videos of people just tightening the torsion bars to get a couple inches of lift. I figure if they didnt come tightened that much, they probably arent supposed to be, but I wanted to run the idea past a few people, do what do you think I should do? buy the kit, or tighten the torsion bar?

Yes you can crank your T-bars to get 2-2.5" of lift. its safe if you don't go any higher than that, just make sure to get an alignment and get your caster and camber readjusted.

Also one post per subject, Don't be surprised if your other posts get deleted.

What he said^. You'll be fine cranking the factory ones to get you around 2" of lift. What you wouldn't be okay doing is getting a leveling kit that comes with aftermarket torsion keys, they'll allow you to crank way to far and they'll wreck your front end components. Otherwise your only other option to get 2-3" would be a body lift and you'll be left with the factory rake. Of course this is all assuming your 4x4.
