Key programming.

2001 f150 4x4 5.4 XLT
Replaced PCM without thinking about the key not being programmed and now I can't crank it. Any way I can program the key myself or does it have to go to the dealership.

The PCM has to be programmed to your VIN. Tow it to a dealer.

Your other option is to get a Super Duty PCM since they don't have the PATS Anti-theft. Probably cheaper than the tow charge.

If you want to keep the new pcm you just put in you wil have to take it to dealer. Programming requires a scan tool and software only the dealer has
