I too, must say goodby. Maybe? Thanks for everything

My stepson made an illegal U turn and was hit in both drivers side doors (and of course the guy had a grill guard). He's OK, but the doors took quite a hit. First estimate $8500 and he thinks they'll total it. Makes me sick to my stomach. A 2000 5.4L EC Lariat with only 97,000 miles. I'll have to get a few more estimates yet, but I figured it was worth almost $9000, he figures the insurance is going to offer me $6000. What also sucks is I think I have to put $200 parts into it yet to see if I can the 4WD working to see if I should buy it back. I've had a post going here, I've checked fuses and vacuum lines. I'm going to replace the solenoids and see, if not then then the transfer case motor. I think if the 4WD works, I'll try to keep it. There are some narrow openings at the top and rear portions of the doors. The snow right now isn't a big deal, but the rain or car wash will be. Any ideas? I was thinking of using that yellow insullation that puffs up and hardens. Then trim it up nice may work? Thanks to everyone for their help. You've taught me alot and saved me alot of money. If I have to buy again, I'll look at F150's, although you can't get much for $6000. Thanks again and I feel your pain cdnarmyguy.

You better tarp the cab, -rain water WILL find it's way in once the cabs been tweaked.

Tarps and bungees are cheap insurance.

You mean for now? I can throw a tarp over it. Or did you mean inside somehow? I'm trying to decide if I get the 4WD working, if I should keep it, and how to seal the gap. The door is pushed in but I can still comfortably sit there, and the gap I can barely get some fingers through. That's why I was wondering if I should fill it from both ends with that stuff since the doors will never be opened again.

You can get the 4wd working. I was thinking to prevent interior damage, thro a tarp over it.

I'd only buy it back if it was worth fixing. No, personally, I wouldn't drive it like it is. Tarp it until I can get to working on it.

So that's what you wanted to do, - fill the void w/foam insulation and drive it like that? I guess you could , yuh Hack

At least take a 10 ld sledge and close the gappers. Nothing short of fixing it right is going to keep water out of there IMO. It will find a way.

Have to weigh everything really, make sure it's worth buying back.

if the cab is bent you could find a body and swap parts Make 1 good truck. These years can be found cheap for a useable body.
