Need help selecting nerf bars

Hi all. My first post on here.

I am in a bit of a bind, I'm here in minnesota in the icy winter. I have run into the problem that I cannot safely enter my vehicle. Either it's too tall or I'm too short (5'10"). At any rate the truck is a 97' 4.6 f150 XLT super cab short box.

The large problem I am having is that online most nerf bars I find, for the 97' f150 super cab, do not fit the XLT? Is there a reason for this because I am at a loss. Also, the previous owner has removed the rocker panels due to rust therefore I am looking for a frame mounted bar. I am aware of the airbag issue with this and off reading is not to be an issue.

If anyone could help me out that would be awesome. So in summary what I'm looking for is a black nerf bar which mounts to the frame of a 97' f150 xlt extended cab, all of which for under $200.

Thanks all

I have a Scab as well. Mine had a pair of Westin brand ones on them when I bought the truck 2 weeks ago. They were rusted out pretty good. They only attached at the corners of the tube. I'm not sure if these things are suppose to be sealed but water and dirt and things ended up getting inside and rotted them from the inside out. If I were to replace them I'd be sure to put some kind of gasket between the nerf bar and the supporting brackets next time. I looked around and looks like you can find a set on ebay for $120-150. Let us know how you make out.

Hey there Matt Clark...
If possible, consider buying stainless steel (304ss) nerf bars.
(400 series stainless does rust after a while)
I bought mine in '04 for my 2003 XLT.
They still look 98% new, (besides scratches).
Good luck.

I fear you will be hard pressed to find frame mounted bars. Smittybilt used to make them in 1997 but they now only carry rocker panel mounts.
