question about the gotts mod/ silencer

Maybe one of you "more technical" guys can set me straight here....
I did the gotts mod, and removed the silencer. I'm wondering about the silencer......I know removing it SHOULD give you more air flow, instead of choking it back down. But, given the size and shape of the elbow, would it disrupt the air flow, possibly giving you less? Or, since it has nowhere else to go, it's all good? I've read both threads front to back, and saw nothing bad about it.....but for some reason just can't wrap my head around it. Am I over thinking it, and need to s t f u? Hahhahhaha

Leave it in - its not a restriction actually. It's a feel-good part of the mod.

Refer to Bernoulli's Principal.

leave it in means this:
Unless you run the motor at 5000 rpm all the time where restriction starts to become a factor, there is no benefit to extra airflow capability unless the throttle is near wide open.
Why, below that, the throttle plate opening at normal throttle openings is the sole controller and restrictor of airflow, not the filter or it's entrance.
The gas engine is a variable efficiency machine that depends on airflow control.
Beyond it's max ability to pump air (set by it's total displacement), there is no benefit to adding extra airfow capacity "in a stock application".
.
The silencer passes more than enough air into the filter area for truck application.
Air is pulled by only one cylinder at a time. The intake flow is actually pulsing do to this fact.
Air supply is being replaced by normal air pressure at about 14 lbs/sq. in. regardless of what the motor does.
The air filter's larger housing is many times the size of a single cylinder's displacement to draw a single cylinder's air supply from..
Good luck.

The only reason to pull the silencer is if you want more noise.
