Cruise Control Inoperative Diagnose

Got around to making a video on this common complaint finally. Usually very frustrating as it can be intermittent more often than just totally inoperative. The number one cause of the cruise not working is the brake pressure deactivator switch. In this video I show you a simple way to test it as it is the first thing I look at when a car comes in the shop with cruise control issues. Hope this helps.

I'm sure somebody will find the video helpful, but not me. Can you help me figure out why my V10 swapped F150 cruise doesn't work now?

Have you checked to see if your truck is on fire? These trucks were recalled because of shorts/fires in the cruise control.

That was the first thing I checked.

1. Is truck on fire?
2. Was truck on fire?
3. Does truck have a steering wheel?
4. Does steering wheel have speed control switches?

It's a long list...

With it being swapped out and you say the cruise deactivator is ok is the speed control servo put back into place after the engine swap?

The cruise worked before the V10 swap. I tried the V10 cruise servo and the V8 cruise servo. Part of the problem is that the V10 PCM gets it's speed signal from the ABS module and the V8 gets it's signal from the GEM. Apparently the two interpret the raw data differently. I have split the raw signal signal from the sensor so a V10 ABS module sends a signal to the V10 PCM and the GEM still sees a signal to feed the speedometer. I have tried feeding both of the two signals to the two cruise servos.

I honestly don't think there is a way to fix it, and since it's a 1999, there is no cluster cruise diag mode.

Yeah that's a real mix up going on there. Well there is always aftermarket that bolts on similar to the factory I have seen in a few trucks.
