Transmission Drain

Dumb Question but is there a drain plug on a 97 f150 4x4 its a 4.6 L and I think is the 4000 series trans. If there isn't a plug, what is the easiest way to let out a quart or so.

Look at the sticker in the door jam and tell us what the trans code is.

No. Never has been a tranny drain plug. Gonna have to loosen a few bolts om the pan and let some out.

Ummmmm...here's a goofy idea. I know this is gonna sound like rrreeeaaaallllllllyyyy crazy, but bear with me...how about look at the pan and see if you see one?

Ain't no easy way. Gotta drop the pan. Not all the way but like 03 said. You could also try sticking a long, small tube down the dipstick tube and try to siphon some out.

The easiest thing to do is suck it out through the dipstick tube.

I keep a suction gun handy for things like that. It looks like a manual chassis grease gun. In fact I have two of them now. I bought a second one when I was working my last job in FL because I was there over 3 yrs and I had stuff to do, mostly to my old Kawasakis. My truck required very little work. You can buy tygon tubing from Home Depot if it needs a longer tube.
