CEL Issue

My brother has an '01 and recently had the fuel pump and filter replaced. The CEL was on and throwing the fuel pump code. Since it has been replaced, the CEL goes off for a little while then comes back on. The shop where he has had all his work done can not find a code, so they think it may be an electrical issue with the board that runs the CEL. Anyone heard of this or had this issue. I think he still has issues but he says there is no code. I am 7+ hrs away, so I cant check it myself.

If the motor is a gas motor there is no fuel pump code per sey.
Without the original code your at a loss or catching the code that is turning on the CEL lamp.
We need the code otherwise it's just guessing.
There is no CEL driver either.
Until accurate info is at hand there is little to go on.
I suspect the first repair attempt at this was way off track and the code misunderstood..
It would be even better to describe the way the motor acts than go about it this way.
Good luck.
