Preventative Maintenance

Its about that time....I'm 947 miles away from hitting the 200k mark.

I want to do some preventative maintenance on my truck so I can keep it as long as possible. When I bought the truck in December 2007 it had 108xxx miles on it.

Engine was rebuilt at 50xxx for some crazy internal problem...Do the math...engine has approx 15x,xxx miles.

Front end was rebult about 10k-15k ago, new axles, upper and lowers, etc.

Rear end was rebuilt about 10k-15k ago, My little 8.8 didnt like the towing I was doing so decided to implode. Everything is brand new.

Tranny and T case are still original.

Anyone have any advice on things I should start changing out? I am nto afraid to work on my truck myself and actually prefer it. Obviously, I change the engine oil every 3000 miles and use high quality oil. I get the regular services done every 10k or so... I dont know what else to start doing.

Any advice is appreciated!

D

Change the tranny fluid (full drain - drop pan and pull the TC plug), transfer case fluid, and coolant. Replace the spark plugs, consider replacing the plug wires. Inspect hoses and serp belt, replace as necessary. Replace any idler pulleys that don't spin smooth and quiet. Use a turkey baster to suck the PS fluid out of the reservoir, replace with fresh ATF.

I'd do a drain/flush of the antifreeze if it's not been done for awhile in addition to what's been said already.

You might wanna service the coolant.

In case it hasn't been mentioned yet... About every other year anyway

It's not worth changing the fuel pump for preventative maintenance. Just replace the fuel filter if it has more than 30k on it.
