advice on part out

It's become apparent to me that it's time for me and my truck to part ways. Due to a trans issue, I am debating parting out my 97 f150 ext cab 4.6L off road 4x4. I do not have alot of experience. I am posting this here in hopes that any senior members here could provide advice as far as spare pricing of the parts and how quickly this can go. As far as I can figure the transmissions pump and ban gears may be going. The truck does run and drive but the trans does not go into gear unless I gently press the throttle, then it goes into gear but hard.

Again I'm looking for advice on pricing and listing in the for sale section of the forum. Private Messages would be appreciated.

Ouch. Is your truck paid for? Other than the transmission, is the truck in good shape overall?
If the transmission is the only thing wrong with the truck, i would SERIOUSLY consider getting a new or even a rebuilt transmission. My thoughts- a couple of new parts cost a lot less than a 4-6 year new truck payment. unless you can score a complete commuter for a good low price.
Not sure on the parting out options, maybe someone else would chime in.

Where are you located? Depends on parts availablity and parts demand in you area.

Are there any junk yards near you that you can get offer on the whole truck as is? That may give you a better idea of what its worth. You can make more parting it out rather than selling whole.

With other issues, it's not worth it too me, looking at picking up a 94

I'd sell whole truck as-is for 3000 which would include a 9.75 rear end with drums and 3.55 gears along with the truck

Unfortunately it's located in Beaufort NC I will be listing local but I'm hoping for high demand on the forums.

3 grand for a 17 year old truck with a bum transmission? I'm afraid you are dreaming.

1200 bucks tops and if your break it up you might get 15 hundred but then you got the hassel involved in the deal. If your looking at going to an older f150 like you say expect it to be even more unreliable the the one you got.

well I'm including in that figure a 3.55 9.75 Rearend with drum brakes and the 5 lug bolt pattern. Going to close a deal on a 07 5.4 today.

Good, you are moving up the chain instead of down. It's almost always a mistake the other way unless you are an ace mechanic.
