Reverse lights not working
Reverse lights not working
Hey, I am new to this f150 online and have a question about my truck.. I currently have reverse light issues. They have worked only a couple of times since I have owned it. They come on for a brief second just about every time I put it in reverse but they will not stay on. I have checked for power at the lights but seems to be none. Checked fuse and it looks good. I got told today to switch the shift solenoid but that seems like a lot of work and might not be the right part.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem before and would like some info on what to do! It's on a 2002 ford f150 4.6l xlt 4X4 automatic.
Thanks!

The power goes through the transmission position selector in it's reverse position.
Have you looked at it from this point?
Maybe the actuating rod needs adjustment to position the selector solid in each detent or the contacts / harness is in trouble.
Good luck.

I have heard some things about it.. You mean the transmission gear position sensor? I have tried to adjust it before but looks like it doesn't move. I didn't look to see if the linking rod can adjust.
I never got it solved yet.. Haven't spent much time on it yet but I did change the gear position sensor ( might also be called neutral safety switch) and still no reverse lights. They were flickering on and off lots of times the other day so I'm guessing ground or broken wire somewhere.
