Strange computer glitch?

I have a 2001 F150 2wd 4.6L with only 87k miles that ran perfectly last weekend. I get in Monday and it turns over but will not start. My buddy has a code reader which i borrowed, and as soon as i hook it up and turn the key, it starts. No problems since. Did the computer just need to be reset, or is something else going on here?

I recall going to Advanced Auto last year when one of my coils went out and he used the scanner to tell me which cylinder needed a new coil. When i came out from the store, the same situation occured, turned over, but wouldn't start. The employee came back out, hooked the scanner up again and it started. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks!

Maybe a CAN bus issue?

Weird tho, did you get a theft light flashing?

You said no start, you mean no crank, or no running?

It ran fine for 2 days, now the same issue. The theft light is not flashing, and it cranks but will not start. No computer codes and it didn't start this time after hooking up code reader. I put a brand new fuel pump in it less than a year ago also.
