Who has a done a 4v 5.4 swap?

I know this has been discussed, yes I've searched, and yes I've read the other threads regarding this. Even been on lightningrodder and other forums reading threads in the swap. Nobody is giving very much detail on how to go about the swap though they are just BSing about hp/tq and why you should just charge a 2v and blah blah blah..

I wanna be unique. I want a 4v and I'm buying one for $950 in the next few days. I will be doing a complete rebuild on it down to the piston rings.

Who's done the swap and what BIG things are needed to complete the swap?

Couple questions...
1. Will flexplate on the navi bolt up to my TC because of 8 bolt crank?
2. Will engine wiring harness plug into my pcm?
3. Who can tune it? I have a SCT livewire ts already.

I have a 2002 5.4 windsor fx4. I'm ready to do a write up here on the whole thing if I can get some answers and hear some things that I missed that I should be concerned about.

That's the smartest thing said in this post. Well charge it along with a little bit of head work and exhaust.

If your into 4V headaches, more power to yuh lol.

Yeah well the thing is, I can get my hands on a 4v, and can't get my hands on a 2v supercharger. Thats the difference maker.

You need to find a Nav in a salvage yard and take whatever you need off it including the wiring harness, computer, etc. Swaps are always a pita. There are always little things that you never imagined that are different.

Right, find a donor. A donor vehicle is the best way to go - If that's not in the cards you need the complete engine, front accessories to flywheel - Navigator throttle cable and cruise control cables. Torque converter and ECM needs to match whichever transmission you have (4R70w ,4R100 or E4OD)

Comp Cams would be nice - 106060 or 106100. Maybe a bit heavier ?

Can't use the Navi oil pan you have to use the F-150 oil pan and oil pick up tube.

The MAF to get would be an 90mm along w/ 42lb injectors .

Harness - plug and play - a lightning fuel pump or a Walboro .

It will be fun fitting in longtubes - but I would make it work somehow..

Well... I bought it. Looks like my biggest concern is going to be how to wire it into my pcm. Can I just use an 04 navi pcm and hook that into the wiring harness?

i dont think so. the navi's use 4r100 transmissions.

you might just need a custom tune to run it, maybe a bigger fuel pump?

Ive been on my other forums chatting about this swap a lot. Forgot about good ole f150online. Heres the update...

Block should be out of the machine shop this week with rotating assembly installed and balanced.
Manley flat tops
Manley h beams
Clevite bearings
total seal rings
ARP main studs
Factory ford side bolts
Factory 8 bolt crank

Sticking with an n/a build high compression with a good intake, exhaust, and tune. Ill think ill be more than happy with the outcome. Ordered a ton of parts that should also be showing up this week from MMR. Head cooling mod, arp head studs, all new timing kit, valve cover gaskets, billet cam spacers, header gaskets. and a few other little odds and ends.

96/98 cobra cams are going in in place of the stock cams, ill be running longtubes and replacing literally every bolt on this damn thing. Ive got a few parts here like a Factory ford high volume oil pump and pick up tube, head gaskets, and oil pump gasket.

This thing should finally start taking lift off and be done this summer. Just a side project that ive got going on and itll be getting worked on in between work and the gym lol I have a few pics of the tear down but dont have them on my computer.

Stay tuned!!!!!
