Pcm ??

Has anyone here replaced their own PCM? How dificult is it to do? Do you have to have the dealer cut new keys after you replace it? Dealer wants $800 to replace mine.. i called NAPA, they said there are 4 different possible PCM's for my truck, the two most expensive are $320. Cheapest could be $169. If i can replace it myself, i am all about saving some $$$..

Anyone tackled this before? What would be involved?

Thanks!

It's definitely going to have to go to the dealer for programming, I don't know how involved that would be.

Could I inquire as to why you need a new PCM?
I see you play with a Gryphon, is that the reason?
If yes have a dealer reflash the one you have with a file down load from the data center that matches you VIN..
Two keys are needed to do the PATS programming.
Otherwise only a shop that subscribes to FORD info access can do it.
They are few.
Good luck.

Pcm was diagnosed by Ford with a bad driver...the cause of my cylinder misfire on #2. Had the pcm replaces two years ago when I had a theft light blink no start issue. This go around same time my misfire showed up my a/c stopped working. Compressor won't engage. Might be related to pcm. Bluegrass I have had the Gryphon over 3.5 years same tune..I don't change the tune. I have wondered if that could be contributing to my issue. 2 PCM issues in two years makes me think something is amiss..either electrical issue or the Gryphon
