Tires rubbing after trimming. Help?

Hey guys. Been a while since i've posted but production has been crazy lately.

Anywho, I put a new set of tires on the truck. And they seem to be rubbing close to lock. The truck is at stock height. After trimming the fender wells it only happens at slow speeds.

Now I know there's probably a sticky about sizes and rubbing etc., but I have already purchased and trimmed. The only thing I can see is that the inner sidewall is rubbing just a touch on the tie rod.

Now this truck is getting a leveling kit tonight. Not sure if its an issue with backspacing or just lift.

Pics included.

As it sits today. Tire size 285/75/16

This seems to be the culprit.

This is the wear mark. No noticeable wear other than visual indications.

Here you can tell I trimmed quite a bit of the inner fender.

Not sure if anyone can tell what kind of backspacing on these rims. No markings to read.

You'll need to take the wheels off and measure them to see what the backspacing is, you'll also need to know how wide they are to figure it out. Just google how to measure backspacing, there's plenty of tutorials.

Hopefully by getting a leveling kit tonight you mean your cranking the stock torsion keys and you didn't buy the aftermarket ones that are only good for a paperweight. If you did buy the aftermarket ones I suggest returning them and cranking the stock ones, it'll allow you to still get an alignment and not tear up front end components.

And yes there is a sticky on all of this, it's linked in my signature.

Well I know the rims are 8" wide. I will def check to measure the backspacing. Seemed like more than factory but i'm not sure.

this. and once the t bars are cranked if they still rub and you dont want to buy new wheels or tires, a spacer is your only option. you can go with slip on ones or bolt on ones. bolt ons are "safer" but space out the wheels quite a bit further than you need. post back here after the t bars are cranked

The offset should be stamped right next to where the marking for the wheel size is.

When going from stock 255 or 265 section width to 285 why would you not think that could be a problem, then on wheels that may have a different offset.
Good luck.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you guys. Once again, work is insane.

But I measured the backspacing on the wheel and it seems to be 4.25 inches. Which I have been told is plenty. The other wear on the driver's side tire is inconsistent with the other side. So i have ruled that out as being an issue. Which lead me to believe that I hadn't trimmed quite enough.

Then, I left my wheel at lock, went to smoke a cigarette, and saw that I hadn't trimmed the lip on the valance enough.

So, dumbass of the year award goes to me.

Cheers fellas. Thanks for the help!
