Unleaded Fuel only , early 97

so as i was strolling thru the junkyards up hear i noticed this truck, its and early build 97 and has unleaded fuel only near the steering wheel, this is the 5th one i have seen with this up hear, does anyone one else have an example of this or do these rare things only exist in northern ny lol

I'll have to check here in Maine, I bet we have some of these. It looks like by the door tag that it was built in the US for Canadian sale. It might have been a requirement of Canada to be marked as such. Interesting

Have you noticed the photo of the build tag?
It has a Canadian Maple leaf on it.
Think it has something to do with the marking you are wondering about.
US built trucks have no leaded fuel normally available at regular pumps unless some one gets it special from another source such as an airport or race source.

I'm guessing it's a Canadia thing.


also the flasher button is clear redish plastic. IIRC both mine are black?

I've seen 5 trucks up hear that have the unleaded fuel only , 3 for United States, and 2 Canadian, the pictures show the second Canadian one I found and yes it had the metric cluster

If anyone wanted the unleaded fuel only plastic piece I could pic it up for anyone if anyone wants it

Do not quote me on this but I believe that vehicles built in an other country for the US market must have that label.

My 03 was built in Windsor for the US market and doesn't have a label anywhere.

The requirement for the label was repealed at the end of January 1996. Automakers did not discontinue them right away.

That would make sense cause I have only seen the label on early 96 ford f150's, and yes all the ones in the United States where built in the United States
