Buy a Tundra. It can tow a space shuttle.

It can also pull the piston through the oil pan.

Nothing wrong with improving your truck's performance, just be smart about it. I'm pretty sure your axle, springs, brakes, and transmission are most at risk if you're gonna exceed ratings. Chassis failure is further down the abuse line.

Patman's suggestion is pretty awesome.

As much as we crap on the Tundras, the 5.7 is a sweet engine... especially in a regular cab short bed.

The new Tundra engine are better but the first ones blew more than a few connecting rods.

The early ones apparently broke camshafts as well.

I do like patmans idea. It might sound dumb but I just wanted to know my truck was more capable and stouter even if I wasn't hauling or towing past the recommended rating. Guess im used to customizing stuff for no reason at work haha. I really want to strengthen the frame under the bed cuz it bugs me when I see that the frame is only 4 inches tall. Idk I'll keep thinking about it and see where it goes

You can go and box the whole chassis, but I'm sure you and your engineering buddy know that braces will save weight, labor, and material. A tubular frame would be even stronger.

so why not do a frame swap with a 3/4 ton or larger truck?? and then use the F-150 body??

Do people still do that kind of thing with modern Ford Trucks?

(I'm a Car guy, so I have no idea.)

That's what I figured as well. I hope that's wrong, because their complete kit with traction bars looks like something I might want. I kinda drive my truck like a car.
