Transfer Case-Stuck in 4WD need some help
Transfer Case-Stuck in 4WD need some help
98 f150 automatic **** 4wd&t-case. Transfer case broke, truck didn't run for a year, rebuilt tcase got it running but now its driving in 4wd. I removed the shift colenoid(sorry about the mispell) and the shift motor is set in 2wd. It's not any fuse I've checked them. Any suggestions or solutions will be helpful I could use the input thanks
If you had the transfer case apart, the shaft that changes the power flow has either not been put back correct or some part is broken or the shaft has just not returned back to 2wd position.
Taking the motor off with the shaft in 4wd won't help the transfer case situation nor any electical power changes.
Try to return the shaft back to nornal.
If you can and there is nothing else wrong it should be back to 2wd.
I'm not sure I understand where your at with this so have patience.
What you have is two seperate actions going on, normally.
One is the electrical request to the GEM to opersate the motor and it's circuit board contacts and the mechanical changes that take place in the transfer case and the front alxe Actuator operation when the engine is running to make vacuum to operate it..
Good luck.

That may not be the problem. To ensure that it is truly in 4wd, you need to get all the wheel off the ground and test if the front wheels turn in 2wd. If so then it is a TC problem. Other problems that you may have if they do not turn, is bad CV joints. Check the CV boots for breaks or leaks. With the wheels off the ground, turn the front tires. If you get noise, it problem is bad CV joints or bearings.
