I have a 2002 4.6 l f150 xlt 4x4 today I was driving my truck car pooled wright out in front of me I had to hit the brakes really hard now the overdrive off on light is blinking what would cause that?

There is a button on the end of the shift lever, I think. Push it in and see if it turns off.

 

If the overdrive light is blinking, then your transmission's overdrive isn't working for some reason.

 

Yes, the torque converter is locked, pushing the switch a time or two may release it.

When you turn off the motor, the function automatically resets unless there is a trouble present.
If it comes back on, there is a code set.
Have it read and come back with the number.

Even if it resets itself, I'd go get the code read. The free scans at parts stores can't read Ford transmission codes, you need to take it to a shop that has a higher end scanner.

 

i brought to the service station replaced valve body ribbon which is a electronic part inside the transmission the priced to have fixed was $438.00
