ABS light comes on , stays on

Wondering if anyone has had a ABS light problem like this: When I start up in the morning ,no light till I get to the first stop sign , about 100 yards. when I apply the brakes ,Voila ! light comes on . the front brakes are only a year old , the rear brakes needed changing , got those changed , still have the light come on every day. Does anyone know where the ABS modules are located ? All I can gather from my Chiltons that there are 2 ...don't know what to do from here, any suggestions ...thanks

Take it some place that can read ABS codes, auto part stores usually can't.

Most likely is a wheel speed sensor or the wires that go to it have rubbed or are broken. Excessive crap on the sensor might cause it to, but I doubt it.

its typically the VSS in the rear end, but you need to get the code read before you just throw parts at it

Is it 4wd? If it is there a sensor in each front wheel bearing hub and one in the rear diff if I'm not mistaken. Bad brakes shouldn't affect the abs at all, most likely a junk sensor or chaffed wire
