Bedliner Paint Job
Bedliner Paint Job
I think I'm going to do this - not sure when, but pretty sure it will happen.
My clear is starting to peel and the paint is seriously scratched up. This truck goes off road a lot and where I go is often overgrown and no paint job will survive. I did some searching and I found lots of Jeeps that have done it, but I'd really like to see a '97 to '03 F150 done.
I also know there are color choices and I'm thinking blue would be pretty cool.
So for anyone who has done their bed or truck, I'd like opinions on roll-on (which I think would be easier from a masking perspective) vs spray. Also, how much may I need for the whole thing?

I dont have pictures or experience with it but I have seen several different trucks who have done this. Looked good everytime I seen it. Not sure if it was done by the individual or professional but looked good.
I have seen one of our trucks done around my town, it only looked stupid because he had a large rediculous front bumper on it and it sat fairly low. IMO it could look pretty sweet as long as its done right. Duplicolor has a kit that comes with a special roller.
I think it would be pretty bad A! Only truck I've seen with it recently was a fairly new 6.7 Cummins and it looked stupid cause of how new the truck was. But I think yours could pull it off. I plan on doing it to mine when my paint goes
My main concern with most roll-on liners is they seem to fade pretty bad and don't tend to be that durable. I did the raptor spray on liner in my bed and for the same price as a roll on liner it is far superior to any I have seen. Don't worry about masking. If you're painting the whole truck there won't be too much to tape off.
Only thing about it is, unlike paint, once it's on there, it's on. No changing your mind after the fact. I would think resale value would go way down.

As much as he has into this truck and the V10 swap and mileage, I don't think he is too worried about resale value at this point lol.
A 06 Roush Stage 3 around here is completely Line-X'd in blue. Looks kinda cool but is sad such a nice/relatively rare car will never be able to be like it was before. But on a truck, I think it would look sick.

I'd say if I had a choice between buying a scratched up, faded and peeling truck, or a bedliner sprayed truck, it would be a coin toss. Who knows. Something to consider anyway...

Southern AZ, but I do all my own work because I'm... frugal.
