Been Busy this week with no time to follow the tread, This was not a bragging post, But i use the 10-30 becouse i am often pulling heavy loads with my truck, so thought the thicker oil would help ( What i have alway hurd). Thanks for all the comments, Guess it will teach me to ask a question if ford dont specifie what i am asking. Hell they dont specifie i run 35" tires, A programmer, 5" lift, but we still do it. Thanks for the comments though.

FWIW I use 5W30 or 40 or 50. It is the same price as 5W20 and I believe, maybe wrongly, that the 30 to 50 will further protect my engine @ 5000+ RPM in the dunes. For the last year I have been driving to work, less than a mile, and it has started smoking on start up. I don't change the oil regularly because of a leak. When I remember to check it, I end up needing to top it up. Last time it needed 3 litres. If I were to snap a picture of my face you would see the face of someone who doesn't give a crap. If the SOB blows I will find a junker 5.4 and put it in till I can rebuild this one. Truck still spins my 33 ATs at 40mph in 2nd. And that in itself is testimonial to the abuse these engines will take and keep running.

Hell, the correct oil and changing it when you should is cheaper to begin with. Never the less, your always going to have those Joes who outsmart the engineers and defy all odds.

Durr ...

Just keep in mind that it was ford engineers who designed our cylinder heads with 4 threads for the spark plugs. It was also the Ford engineers who recommended torquing the plugs down to 12 ft lbs WITH anti-seize.

Yea, so.. What! Read post #22. Yea, pretty much covers that don't it...

Anyway, not sure what that was all about. Gotts, put whatever you want in your crankcase. I've already made point in this thread. Been there done that with your thoughts as well.

If your worried, I really don't give a frogs fart what you stick in your oil hole.

This thread was not intened to be a bashing thread, Just asking the simple question ( Has anyone seen problems with 10w-30.) I am not second Guessing running it in my truck at all, I will continue to run it, I was not asking on opions, or recomendations on oil i should use, Just asking the question posted above. And Jbrew i can take you a picture if you dont belive my truck has 270,000 miles, i wish it only had 100,000. I have worked the truck hard, Towed alot with it, the only things i have change on the truck was have the Alt. Rebuilt @ 195,000, and then rebuilt it again @ 268,000. I dont baby the truck i use it as a truck, I dont beat the **** out of it either. If the motor goes out right now, it will suck but i will just rebuild it or replace it and go at it again. The truck uses about 1Qt of oil every 3,000 miles and i change it every 5,000 miles

Pictures wouldn't really help in this case, but thanks for the offer. Well, it's still running. I guess that's a good reason to keep using the wrong oil.

307,000 miles here and doesn't use a drop between changes. The cheap spec 5/20 Motorcraft blend (usually on sale) or same w/Castrol. Whichever is cheaper at the time.

Me,- I have no reason to use 10w 30 and whatever else you put in there. I just wanted to understand yours. I don't get it apparently.
