It could be the throw out bearing starting to go. It could also be lack of lubrication top the main bearing. If the fluid level is low it takes longer for the gears to fling oil up to the main bearing.

Thanks for your reply.

I'll change the fluid and see if that helps. Not sure when or if the previous owner did it last, so it needs to be done anyway.

Wish I could find one of those Hurst shifters but I know that will never happen. Should have purchased a new one back when I had my old 4.2 truck.

Don't worry the trailblazer isn't mine.

Changed the fluid in the M5OD but didn't get any pics. The truck shifts smoother now and goes into first gear with ease.

Removed exhaust tips today, one was bent and I want to redo the exhaust soon anyway.

I decided not to spend the money on having the exhaust redone right now, so I had some turn downs welded onto the Magnaflow. I also added a cut out just for fun.

Put new shocks on the 99 today.

Time to start putting more money into this truck since my 2002 was totaled recently, got t-boned. It's pretty crazy because my fiancee got t-boned about two weeks ago in her car less than a mile from where I got hit. I know the insurance company isn't gonna pay me **** for the truck because it's not worth much. Hell the lady's insurance I'm dealing with over my fiancees car is trying to offer me 5k less than the value of the car. I'm still waiting to hear back from the insurance company's on her car and my truck. What a giant head ache lol.

We are both very lucky to walk away from our accidents with no injury's.

I enjoy the cutout and plan on making it electric when I have some extra cash. The 4.6 actually sounds pretty good, with four cats its really not that loud and has a decent tone. When I shift into fifth gear you can't even tell its open.

I keep it closed most of the time though, waste too much gas having fun with it open.

I was unaware there were 4.6L with manuals. I thought the 4.2 was the only option. Not sure why I thought that. But now, I know if mine gets totaled or I need to replace it in the next couple years what I'm going to look for! I love having a manual full size truck! When I engine brake I feel like I'm driving a mini big rig.

Truck looks great!

And you say the fluid change in the transmission helped it smooth out? Might be time for me to do the same.

Thanks!

They are rare but there is a few v8 5spd trucks out there. If the 4.6 let's go I'll be replacing it with a 5.4 like JMC.

Changing the fluid did help smooth out the shifts. The original owner never changed the fluid and it had 130k on it.

Ask JMC how many M5OD's he's gone through...........

It wasn't designed to hold the torque of anything bigger than a PI 4.6, and that's even marginal.

sorry to hear about your regular cab fx4. Buy it back and use it for parts, after they give you going value for it. Or fix it and keep it. I'd donate some labor toward the cause.

I know he has been through a pretty good amount of M5OD's but I don't plan on being too hard on it, just a stock 5.4 for daily driving. I'm surprised he doesn't go through more M5OD's with the power he's making.

If my 4.6 ever does let go a 5.4 just seems like a better option than another 4.6 since it's an easy swap. I don't see it happening anytime soon though because this 4.6 just rolled 137k so its got a lot of life left in it.

Thanks bud.

I looked over the truck at the scene of the accident before the wrecker took it away and I know for sure there is no fixing it. I was hit by a chevy 3500 dually that was going 45mph, it spun the truck around twice before I ended up in a ditch about 35-40 yards away. The frame is bent really bad and everything from the cab back is gone.

I also already know whatever I get for the 2002 is going into getting my fiance a new car. With the money we get from my truck and her car, hopefully we will have enough to buy her a good used car and not have to make any payments. We had just paid off her 07 Accord before it got totaled.

It really sucks because that was the first time I had driven the truck in three months. My dad sold the property his shop was on so I had to move it ASAP and this happened on the way back to my house.

Thanks man! I honestly never really like red cars but after I got the FX4 the color defiantly grew on me. If I ever buy a new truck it will be hard not to go with red lol.
