Plasti Dip for grills?
Plasti Dip for grills?
I am going to paint my grill with either Krylon fusion or Plast Dip. Anybody use the PD? They have a primer that is used first, followed by the PD. Looking at the "smoke " color to match the gray. The more you put on, the darker it gets until it's black. Check out the web page.

I plastidip'd my lightning grille, my lower valance and my wiper cowl, did nothing but wash them off and just sprayed them. Still look how they did when I did the last coat, minus the lower valance, it has some tiny tears from rocks and bugs, but it's not noticeable at all unless you're like a foot away.
Are you looking for something permanent? PD is usually used if you're unsure about how it may look or if you may want to remove it later. Me and my buddies have PD'd all kinds of stuff and it holds up well enough if you take care of it, but it'll definitely need redoing every once in a while because it does tear and rip/peel off when rocks hit it. Haven't used it with primer underneath it yet though, so not sure how that'll hold up
Not sure, haven't seen the primer on anything before. But it would certainly help! And maybe you could clear on top of that? Figure that would help it match that gray two tone a little better and help it be more permanent
I've worked with plastidip quite a bit. Not sure if the primer would work the way an actual paint primer would. If you want good adhesion rough up the surface first. I know Plasti-dip is a royal pain to remove from a rough surface. I spray my grille about a year ago with it, only cleaned it before spraying and it still looks just as good as the day I did it give or take a scratch or two.
The plasti-dip primer is supposed to be used if you want it to stay on without being able to peel it off. Haven't used the primer under anything yet as I like the idea of peeling it off if I want to. Will be blacking out my chrome bumpers with it here pretty soon.
