Help please!!
Ok guys, I need some help here. I am trying to sell my truck, and I'm having lots of annoying problems with it. I had to replace the alternator, one of the terminals going to the starter snapped for no reason...that kind of stuff. Now, last night the truck was working perfectly...go to start it this morning and it won't start. It sounds like the fuel pump is coming on, the battery voltage is 12V, all fuses for the fuel pump are ok. It will crank and crank and crank all day till the cows come home, but won't start. I noticed that whenever it is cranking, the theft light is blinking and the fuel gauge drops down to E, even though there's over a half tank. Also, when I turn the key to the ON position, all my gauge needles go full over as they do whenever you disconnect the battery and then reconnect it. Also, my clock is at 12:00, again like you'd disconnect the battery and reconnect it. All connections are tight. Does anyone have any ideas before I push it off a cliff?
Thanks for the quick response. A guy I know is coming over in about 10 minutes with a scanner, and I'll see if it throws any codes. I'll go get it checked after that. Thanks again
Yea, check your inertia switch as well. You reset it just like a circuit breaker. Sounds like your theft system is screwed up now. A dealership might have to fix that one. If your FP is screwed up, you won't hear any sounds usually. After you check the inertia and/or reset it. - If you don't hear the pump when keyed to run position (not start). Leave the key in run , crawl under and smack the center of the tank with a mallet. If that triggers the pump to charge the lines, you need a new one.
That theft system may be the stopper now. You can't crank these things for more than 4 seconds. It shuts the injectors down, (you may have to purge the rail) and may trip the inertia.
I would search "theft system and gauges sweeping". I'm not sure what you might have to do there.

Ok. Fuel pump is ok because we checked for pressure at the rail. He had a snap on tool scanner tested the battery under load at 8.3 v. Thanks everyone for the quick responses! New battery it is
