What MPG's are you getting with your 4x4 S-CREW?
I just recently got my previous white 01' 4x4 S-CREW Lariat back and so far am only seeing about 255 miles out of 3/4 tank. I wanted to know what you guys are getting so I know if this is below normal or not?? Thanks for the input.

What is the actual gas mileage - miles per gallon? What type of driving?
|
I just filled up yesterday and i calculated 14.69 or 268mi/18.24 gal. I drive primarily to and from work on a two lane highway and set the cruise at 58mph. Easily acceleration from stop signs. Up to three days a week take my daughter to school with a less than 3mi trip. I just ordered new sp-479 plugs, fuel filter, pvc so hopefully that will help. Thanks Jesse

There are a lot of guys that do not get that high.
I've had my truck for 6 months and have not gotten over 12.1 mpg. Majority of mine have been 10-11 mpg. It's not too uncommon to get around that (have seen people say that multiple times in the forums). |

Your claiming 18.24 ? That is possible, but how did you determine? |

So which engine do you have? SP-479, = 5.4L. Yea, I can't see any calculations to determine mileage -Hard to say what your getting.
Your claiming 18.24 ? That is possible, but how did you determine? His mpg was 14.69. He drove 268 miles and filled up with 18.24 gallons of gas. Miles divided by gallons = mpg. |

If you get everything just right, you may squeak out 16. - New plugs will help a lot. I suggest Denso Iridiums (fine wire for the 5fours), if your looking to set a record. |
I like to help out when I can, ;-).

Even before the EGR passages plugged up, my son-in-law never saw any better than 16 with his 98 4.6 4wd s-cab with ANY type of driving.
Do not put anything except a Motorcraft PCV valve in - aftermarket PCV's don't meter correctly. |
I have an 01 Screw 4x4 with a 4.6 and I average around 19mpg. I drive about 60/40 highway/city. But I also have a CAI, tb spacer, headers, dual exhaust, 33's and an Edge Evo CTS.

Not saying it is not possible to get 19mpg...hell Ive heard of 20+ with a tail wind. But, to average that on 60hwy/40city, is all but possible. Especially 4.6, super crew, 4x4 with 33's on stock gears. And I don't see how any of your mods are helping with fuel mileage.. Canned tunes on a CTS with headers, TB spacer and CAI... I can almost bet you lost mpg but gained a few hp. How are you calculating your mileage? I'd be willing to bet your averaging 14-17 on a good day. |
That sounds about right.. I'm getting about 14-15 mpg out of an old 97 F150 with 243,000 miles on it on my daily commute... :)
I get around 10 mpg towing a #5000 TT from time to time. I figure it's a 15 year old truck with almost a quarter of a million miles on it... ;) No payments for the last 7+ years... Love it! :) It's getting the same mpg's as it did when I got it in 2001 with 65,000 miles on it. It costs more for gas when you drive a truck... But, it beats driving an econo box! :) At least for me it does.. Good luck! Mitch |
2003 Screw 5.4 285/70/17's with just a Live wire TS gets me 240 on a good tank, but without I got 230.

Miles per tank is meaningless.
