New to Forums and F150

Hey all!
New to the forums, and I generally use forums for all my needs for any vehicle ive ever had.

so, I just got my 2002 f150 5.4l V8 Triton. 4x4.

im new to these babies...

what im lookin to find as of right now is well...

what should I upgrade first? this thing is completly stock.

trying to aim for CHEAP cheap. but obviously a little saving here and there and THEN upgrading would be good, but for now, i wanna stick with cheap

any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

My advice is search around here and read up a lot before doing any mods. There is a wealth of good information on the site.

Well since you have an 02 you could do some searches in 98-03 and work from there. Lots of good reading there.

Also an advanced search is the way to go.

Do routine maintenance first. Then ask what you're into... performance, appearance, or audio... maybe all three?

What he said^. Regular maintenance first, then maybe considered the gotts mod (search for it) cheap, and easy for a first mod.

Then decide what area you want to start with first. Then we can tell you how to spend your money haha.

And welcome to the site!

well, im going to do the gotts mod and clean the MAF as soon as it light out again, haha.
but, yes, all three (performance, appearance, audio) is what im into, but sadly, funds are limited, hence why im askin' for cheap "starters".

and as far as lifts/tires, i would like to do it right, and not just put a block under/over the leaf springs. im very much a "mudding" enthusiast.

audio... i know my audio. funds limited =\ but i know what i want.

any other suggestions as far as cheap appearance/performance upgrades go?

just went thru this thing with a fine tooth comb. has 243,000 miles, and runs like it has 10

If you tune it up later on, stick with OEM ignition parts, as they are the best.

by the way.... my dad's girlfriend has a 2004 f150, all tricked out... and he has one of those things that you plug into the truck and can re-program the "computer" of the vehicle for whatever you want (performance, gas milage, hot the tranny shifts, what have you)

I was wondering... are those hot-swappable? as in, would it be ok to plug it into my truck? or would that mess up hers? would it screw with mine??? any ideas? thanks!

Generally, programmers will lock a vehicles vin into it and then they can't be used on another vehicle until the current one is set back to stock and unprogrammed.
